The eMag started its journey as a Romanian company in 2001 dealing with online sale of equipment and components, IT, electronics, personal care items, automotive products, sporting goods, clothes ,books, music, movies, products for home and garden petshop, children items. In 2012, eMAG expanded into foreign markets, with the company trading online in Bulgaria through www.emag.bg, where it quickly reached a market share of 60%. This expansion was followed by the one in Hungary, and since then eMag has become the largest and most visited online trading platform in Hungary. By 2021, emag.hu reached thousands of sellers and more than 1.000.000 uploaded offers. The success of an online marketplace does not just depend on how popular a website is.
